I just see it as a sweet flavor. And it has become sickly sweet for me. So I can't use it anymore.

I find it as a sweet type tobacco as well. Used to love Straight flavored dips....not so much now.

Very interesting. I never had any effect of WG in Straight. I second the other opinions, it is a "sweet" tobacco taste. Think "natural" with sugar instead of salt.

The only Straight I can go back to from time to time is Grizzly. I don't find it to have the over sweet flavor like Skoal or Stokers.

Well I believe I have finally settled on one type of dip. Copenhagen straight long cut is what I have been dipping for the last several weeks. Probably the longest I have stayed with one brand/flavor since I started back dipping on Jan2.2014, the day I quit smoking cigs.

I'd say straight does kinda sorta taste like root beer, but maybe with a hint of wintergreen thrown in the mix. Being a Grizzly dipper, I can detect a bit of smoky flavor in Grizz straight too. Whatever the exact flavor profile is, I like it.
Keep on dipping, snusing, and using smokeless tobacco in general! http://www.youtube.com/doomiteash

Honestly I've always thought that straight was natural mixed with brandy.
